Hansel eggplant, an All America Selections winner for 2007 was developed by Teresa Beck-Bunn, the breeder of Fairy Tale, a 2005 AAS winner. Hansel's non-bitter fruit are tender and smooth and miniture in size. Harvest can begin about 55 days from transplant when fruit are about 2-3 inches long. The little clusters of fruit can be left on the plant a few more days and harvested at 4-5 inches with out a loss of quality. The small plants are like little factories, turning out huge quantities of glossy dark-purple fruit.
