Research is the heart of Seminis and its future. The company invests about 10% of its annual seed revenue to improve fruits and vegetables — over $50 million annually, or about $140,000 every day of the year.
With 51 research stations in 17 countries, our global presence helps our researchers develop new varieties that are adapted to local microclimates and can meet regional consumer preferences. In solanum crops (tomatoes, peppers and eggplant), for instance, Seminis' 29 R&D programs cover the widest range of regions and climates in the industry.
We employ a staff of more than 700 researchers, including 74 plant breeders and 120 individuals with advanced degrees. The company also fosters a wide network of strategic alliances with international research partners, adding strength and versatility to our scientific efforts.
